VP - Engineering
Kelly Mills was named Vice President -Engineering of Becknell Industrial in January 2019.
Ms. Mills joined the Becknell team in June 2015 after spending over 10 years as a design professional. She is responsible for conducting site due diligence for various properties including land acquisitions, build-to-suit clients and speculative buildings. Kelly leads the permitting processes and manages local civil engineering firms to obtain all local and federal agency permit approvals, including planning commission meetings and obtaining zoning approvals, variances and engineering and private utility reviews. She also performs in-house civil engineering design, including site layout, grading/utility, earthwork analysis and stormwater calculations to better estimate project construction costs. Kelly has her Professional Engineer License in the State of Illinois and is a LEED AP accredited professional.
Before joining Becknell, Kelly spent 7 years with Terra Engineering as a Project Manager in Chicago, IL. In this role she was responsible for managing a team of civil engineers to prepare civil construction documents, drainage studies and concept planning to a variety of clients in both private and public sectors. She also managed schedules, budgets and oversaw projects from conception through construction.
Kelly graduated from the University of Notre Dame with her Bachelor of Science degree
in Civil Engineering and is a member of the Notre Dame Alumni, Chicago Chapter. She currently volunteers with One Tail at a Time, a local animal adoption agency and is currently the secretary for Downers Grove Area Newcomers, a local women’s club
